Underdogs Can Win At Health As Well As The Super Bowl

Everyone loves when the underdog wins. The New York Giants were a fifth-seeded team playing the Goliath of football-- the undefeated New England Patriots, who were the highest scoring professional football team in history. It was a well fought match, and David defeated Goliath. The Giants were victors over the Patriots in Super Bowl XLII.

Some of you may feel like underdogs when it comes to achieving your health goals. Eating healthy, exercising and managing stress may seem like insurmountable obstacles to you. You may feel like you will fail no matter how hard you try. Remember that David defeated Goliath with a simple slingshot and faith that he could win. You just need a little faith and the appropriate weapons to help you win your battle with the opponents of maximum health.

1. Have faith . The faith of a mustard seed can accomplish miracles. If you don’t have faith that you will succeed, no amount of knowledge or motivation will get you to take action. You got behind the steering wheel of a car for the first time because you had faith that you could do it. You applied for your first job because you had faith that you could accomplish the work. In a similar fashion, you must have faith that you can lose weight before you will begin to exercise and eat healthy to achieve your desired weight. Cultivate your faith and turn it to action.

2. Overcome fear. Fear is the reason you do not have faith. Mark Twain wrote, “If you do the thing you fear, the death of fear is certain.” Most of what you fear never happens but it feels the same because you fear it. “The coward dies a thousand deaths, but the brave soul dies only one.” Today, do something to improve your health that makes you fearful. Decide to stop eating unhealthy desserts because you are afraid that you might feel deprived. Change your fear into faith.

3. Take action. The best way to develop faith and overcome fear is to take action. Action is the only thing in universe that gets results. Live your life like a verb. Do something! Take a 10 minute walk, eat a salad instead of potato chips, or go to bed 30 minutes earlier tonight. Whatever you can think of to improve your health, stop thinking about it and just go do it.

The fundamentals of being healthy never change. These three simple tips can make all the difference for you if you just apply them daily.
